Creating a Vibrant, Safe, and Prosperous City for All

Your Independent Candidate
My name is Jat Wasu, and I have had the privilege of working and supporting the City of London for over 35 years. As a Chartered Accountant, I bring strong governance and financial expertise to the table, having served as a council member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and worked with leading organisations such as Deloitte and KPMG.
The City of London continues to amaze me with its vibrancy, excellent transport infrastructure, and growing cultural and hospitality offerings. I wholeheartedly support efforts to build on this dynamic environment, ensuring the City remains an attractive place to work, live, and visit. I believe it’s essential that we continue to promote growth, investment, and innovation, which will create opportunities for both small businesses and large employers, helping to ensure the City remains a thriving hub for residents, workers, and visitors.
Why Vote For Me:
- I live and breathe business – During my career, I’ve set up several small businesses and engaged with major employers across sectors such as finance, banking, legal, hospitality, healthcare, property, and retail. My office on Cannon Street has provided me with valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by both small businesses and large employers in the City.
- I have expertise in strategic governance – With a strong background as a professional consultant and chartered accountant, I bring a wealth of financial and strategic expertise to governance. My roles on the Court of Common Council and ICAEW Council, has honed my ability to navigate complex decision-making processes effectively. Known for my sound judgment, I excel at balancing risk, compliance, and long-term vision, ensuring that governance structures operate with integrity, efficiency, and strategic foresight.
- I’m committed to my community – I am deeply committed to the well-being of all people, and I have been actively involved in charitable initiatives for many years. Notably, I have played a central role in redistributing over 2 million meals to residents in the Square Mile and across Greater London; a reminder of the importance of community support, especially during challenging times.
Additionally, I have supported several initiatives for the benefit of the Lord Mayor and the Corporation of London, raising funds for charitable institutions within these organisations. This work has further deepened my commitment to the City’s values of charity, service, and community.
- I do what I say; I make things happen – I have also recently set up the first prostate cancer screening programme in the City in over a decade, offering subsidised screenings. This programme aims to provide early identification, helping men receive treatment at a much earlier, more manageable stage.
- I advocate for change – At the local ward level, I believe it is crucial to have consultations on how best to manage the increasing use of cycles and e-bikes. I would advocate for an increase in the enforcement of traffic laws for cyclists, with on-the-spot fines for dangerous behaviour. This will help protect pedestrians and improve the safety of our streets for all if elected.
- I’m a champion for the City of London – I will work to enhance the City’s appeal, support local businesses, and ensure that our ward is well-represented in the Court of Common Council.
